SpotlightOn - Hosting My First Thanksgiving

After about two and a half years of dating, my boyfriend and I 
officially  combined households and moved in to a brand new place. Other than his kids and my sisters coming over for takeout, we have yet to host anyone. So, when my boyfriend suggested we host his parents, sister and my sisters that live nearby for Thanksgiving, I said sure! How exciting to welcome everyone into our new home and put together a nice meal! Little did I know how much work is involved prior to even addressing the food! We literally have nothing matching for over four individuals, not to mention no cloth napkins, tablecloths nor serving ware!! Of course, with workdays and kid weekends it's one week before thanksgiving and we still need to procure all the above.  With additional family commitments this weekend, I buckled down and spent hours and hours scouring online stores to put together a plan. 

Just in case you find yourself in this bind, I am sharing what I got, all which should arrive in time for Thanksgiving day if ordered in the next couple of days!

RecipeTime - Spicy Chicken & "Rice" Stir-Fry with Green Beans & Lime

I loooove to eat out, when looking for places to live with my boyfriend, one of the things on my "must have" list were good restaurants within walking distance. Thankfully, there are a quite a number of yummy restaurants around us in Brookeline. That said, now that we have settled in and have more of a routine, cooking in has been the next item to tackle. Currently, we have been in a Blue Apron phase. We both like that it cuts out grocery shopping and, usually (sometimes they are a little too experimental), produces good meals without the expense of going out.  I especially like that it provides meal inspiration to recreate and simplify. Case in point this Chicken & Noodle Stir Fry we had a few boxes ago. It was SO good and easy, I knew I had to recreate and "healthify". I have probably made the following recipe four times since having Blue Apron's version (I will upload a photo of my final product next time I make it! New phone means no old photos).

BeautyTalk - Zombie Masks

Who recently had a birthday and is now officially closer to 40 than 30!? ME! It is bizarre how I definitely do not feel like a kid but I do not feel old either. That said I still want to look and feel my best as naturally as possible. Now I am not opposed to fillers or Botox, I just havent gotten around to trying them yet as it seems they involve maintenance and its a big financial commitment. So I keep my eyes out on skincare trends and try to find hacks. Cue in the Korean Hanacure mask which caught my eye as I was scrolling through Popsugar and a little ad on the bottom titled something like "This mask takes ten years off your face" (Say what!?) sent me to this Marie Claire article. And thus kicking of learning all about it and if there is an alternative. (WARNING UNFILTERED SCARY PICS AHEAD)

QOTD - Something to Say (A Star is Born)

Like many movie goers, I was blown away by Bradley Cooper's rendition of A Star is Born. When the film ended the entire theatre was silent, my boyfriend and I wiping tears from our faces. It has been over a week since we watched and I am still thinking about it. Truthfully, I cannot recall a film that has moved me as much in recent time. Without giving anything away I leave these words spoken by Jack to Ally.

RecipeTime - Shrimp Scampi Zoodles

Here we are, week three of 2017, and most likely our eat better resolutions are waning. Have we made it closer to our goals? ...mmm maybe? Do we feel better? or just Hangry? I for one felt gross once the Holidays wound down. It had been about six weeks of being on the go traveling both in the U.S. and overseas with complete disregard for balance. My body was yelling for kindness and I took note. 

Resolution #1 sub veggies for my go to carbs of rice and pasta. 

I had long heard about zoodles but thought that they weren't for me. They seemed like something super healthy people and non foodie lovers would eat.
