RecipeTime - Mexican (Tortilla-Less) Chicken Stew

Last night's Mexican Chicken Stew dinner
with some crumbled cotija cheese - SO good!
This time of year is crazyyyy. We have been going non stop and sometimes that means choosing convenient foods vs nutritious meals. Last week, was one of those weeks we ate out almost every day of the week and I felt it. I was sluggish and beginning to feel like I was getting sick. So over kid weekend we grocery shopped and I made sure to grab what I needed for this stew. It is the easiest of meals to leave ready to enjoy when we get home drained. And takes no time away from wrapping presents which is this week's assignment! Just toss all the ingredients into a slow cooker set on slow for a set amount of time and enjoy later.

ShoppingTips - Holiday Buys for your Home

Freshly unpacked Whimsical Christmas
plates from Pier1!
Tis the season to be Merry and Bright! Since moving in with my love, this is the first Holiday season I will be actually decorating the place where I live. Previously, I usually traveled for the Holidays and my Back Bay apartment did not really fit a tree. I am sure it could have been done but I didn't bother. This year we will spend Christmas day in our place with my love's kids and thus it calls for decorating!

We kicked it off by heading out to Stow, MA on Saturday after Thanksgiving and finding our Christmas Tree at Mistle Toe Christmas Tree Farm (a place so cute one of those TV Christmas movies filmed there!)

The process is slow but so far I feel like progress is good and some finds are worth sharing!

Decor101 - Hosting your First Dinner Party

Style Inspiration by 2 Ladies &
a Chair
 (via Country Living)
After about two and a half years of dating, my boyfriend and I officially  combined households and moved in to a brand new place. Other than his kids and my sisters coming over for takeout, we have yet to host anyone. So, when my boyfriend suggested we host his parents, sister and my sisters that live nearby for Thanksgiving, I said sure! How exciting to welcome everyone into our new home and put together a nice meal! Little did I know how much work is involved prior to even addressing the food! We literally have nothing matching for over four individuals, not to mention no cloth napkins, tablecloths nor serving ware!! Of course, with workdays and kid weekends it's one week before thanksgiving and we still need to procure all the above.  With additional family commitments this weekend, I buckled down and spent hours and hours scouring online stores to put together a plan.

Just in case you find yourself in this bind, I am sharing what I got, all which should arrive in time for Thanksgiving day if ordered in the next couple of days!

RecipeTime - Spicy Chicken Stir-Fry with Green Beans & Lime

Meal Inspiration: Blue Apron's Chicken &
Noodle Stir fry with Green Beans & Lime
I loooove to eat out, when looking for places to live with my boyfriend, one of the things on my "must have" list were good restaurants within walking distance. Thankfully, there are a quite a number of yummy restaurants around us in Brookeline. That said, now that we have settled in and have more of a routine, cooking in has been the next item to tackle. Currently, we have been in a Blue Apron phase. We both like that it cuts out grocery shopping and, usually (sometimes they are a little too experimental), produces good meals without the expense of going out.  I especially like that it provides meal inspiration to recreate and simplify. Case in point this Chicken & Noodle Stir Fry we had a few boxes ago. It was SO good and easy, I knew I had to recreate and put my own spin on it. I have probably made the following recipe four times since having Blue Apron's version (I will upload a photo of my final product next time I make it! New phone means no old photos).
