RecipeTime - Salmon & Lemon Bucatini with Brussels Sprouts

Image via Blue Apron
There is nothing I love more than loosing myself in the kitchen. More often than not it is by way of baking a batch of my favorite cookies - I am just not that confident as a cook. That is why I love when I get Blue Apron and for a few times that week channel my inner chef. I especially love when I discover a recipe that hits it out of the park and can easily be recreated without hunting down obscure ingredients. Enter the Salmon and Lemon bucatini pasta dish with Brussel Sprouts and toasted breadcrumbs. (This recipe is also perfect if opting to stay in this New Year's Eve whether hosting for two or a small group you will be sure to impress!)

ShoppingTips - No-Giftcard Gifts for all (coworkers included) under $20

Image via SmittenOnPaper - visit for DIY
wrapping ideas
Tis the season to be over-committed and overextended. Especially when it comes to keeping your spending in check. Being from a big family I usually limit Christmas gift giving to immediate family only. However, there comes a time when you want to give some of those that make the tough times a little sweeter just a little nod. Maybe you have your work squad or maybe you are part of big group of friends that all exchange gifts. That is when this list comes in!

BeautyTalk - Embracing Glossier's No Makeup Makeup

image via Glossier
I have realized I have a lot to share after not blogging for awhile. Rather than having to brainstorm about what to share, my recent posts have all been a sort of collection of lessons learned or favorite finds of the year. Enter Glossier the product created by Into The Gloss (THE blog of Beauty blogs) founder Emily Weiss. You may remember her as the star intern for Teen Vogue on The Hills (or maybe you don't), but, she has come a long way and was named to Forbes' 30 under 30 list this year!

If you follow Emily on instagram you will notice her skin perpetually looks insane! She always has this dewy no makeup look going on. Furthermore, her future sister in law Maria Dueñas Jacobs, Elle Accessories Editor, frequently promotes Glossier and also has that perfected the no makeup look. These two alone were reason enough for me to want to give it a try, but flip through their testimonials and every cool girl is a convert! Admittedly I did not expect miracles but I was excited to give Glossier Phase 1 set a try.

SpotlightOn - Washio 'My laundry concierge'

Because we are about to enter the fastest (and the last) six weeks of the 2015 year I am sharing with you the best of friend's when in need of saving time. Typically, I am a do it yourself person meaning if I can I rather do it myself and spend that money else where, for example I love always have my nails done but I seldom go to the salon instead I use Sephora's Formula X system and do it myself (Pyrotechnic is my go to fall winter color). That said I also know when it is best to outsource: for example if you live with roommates hire a cleaning person - no two people clean alike and this saves hours of frustration and resentment.

StyleInspiration - It's Beginning to Feel a lot Like Christmas

image via Pinterest
Starbucks' red cups are back and the air has turned crip in New England. Not to mention that Thanksgiving is next week! I honestly have no idea where the year went and plan to enjoy the remaining weeks. Despite the rapid fire march in which the time time between Thanksgiving and New Year's day unfolds as we go through cooking, parties, traveling and the many events which ultimately make this time of year magical. There is no greater satisfaction than catching up with loved ones and sharing laughs and cuddles. So why not get get the ball rolling and introduce some holiday cheer in our surroundings!

This means SPARKLE and SHINE!

QotD - "You must know that this, too, shall pass"

Ring I ordered from Etsy after reading this story
(it has since been lost)
I must admit this year I put aside my creative interests and focused on the amazing opportunity I received when I started a new job last year. But, recently I realized I missed writing and sharing. This week the world was rocked once again at the hands of terrorists who took the lives of those in Beirut and Paris. Our hearts break for those affected and others may have wounds reopen remembering tragedies they have lived whether in New York or Boston or any other corner of the world where lives are unjustly claimed. And so we come together and begin to heal. This reminds of a story...

SpotlightOn - ClassPass Boston Studios

I have a need to change things up and keep busy, this applies to work, decor, and my workouts. All to often does one become bored of the same classes at your local gym. I had gone back and forth on whether to try ClassPass or not as I once signed up for a trial only to find out there were 0 classes in my radius that had openings during my non-working hours for the week trial I was on. But then something changed. It was May, I was bored and when signing up for ClassPass there were tons of classes at studios I had really wanted to try but were priced out of my range.

RecipeTime - Chili Blackened Cod with Avocado & Red Rice Salad

image via Blue Apron
One of the few positives of not being able to workout during my recovery from strabismus surgery was more time for all things such as cooking, organizing, etc. Given I typically work longer hours, and try to hit the gym after, cooking falls by the wayside as 9:30 pm is simply too late for dinner making. But this new found extra time made me long for new recipes and adventures in the kitchen. Naturally, I opted to restart my Blue Apron subscription to get things going!

ShoppingTips - The April Showers call for a Classic Trench Coat

Olivia Palermo for VITAMINA
Spring Summer 2013/14 (via Pinterest)
I am looking at the weather forecast and it predicts showers for the next three days with temps as high as 50. Whilst I must note this is very odd considering we were under 20s on Monday, I will happily welcome the rain and warmer temps and thus ensure the remaining snow left throughout Boston is washed away! However, my new put together persona is not well equipped for the impending month or two of showers. Why? Because I own but one parka which I actually inherited from a sister. What is missing you might say (or know) a classic trench coat!

Heavily influenced by Burberry's "The Art of the Trench" campaign last year, I have decided it is time to buy a nice, sturdy, well fitting trench!

SpotlightOn - Pilates on the Megaformer!

Too try or not to try the Megaformer?
(image credited to SLT NYC via Pinterest)
Due to events out of my control I was forced to move on from my Stott Reformer Pilates classes at my gym, Healthworks, and found myself in need of a replacement. I really liked the reformer classes, but, in choosing a substitute, cost and time were a big factor; given that in order to make it a consistent practice it needed to be accessible. After tons of searching I decided on giving BTone a try. Not only did they have tons of options that would work with my extended work schedule (most importantly late classes as I am not a morning person), but, I could get 15 classes for less than what I paid for the package of 10 at Healthworks

Per usual, I did research on what the megaformer was but what I found was inconclusive and I had no idea what to expect. All I could find was general information on the workout tool "the megaformer" and learned it is often referred to as The Lagree Method, after creator Sebastian Lagree. So I looked for reviews and found the common themes: it works, it is often called "Pilates on Crack", Sofia Vergara swears by it (check out her interview with Megaformer creator Sebastian Lagree), Kim Kardashian turned to it post-baby and Alessandra Ambrosio is a regular! All very important points (great press!), but, gave me no clue as to what to expect?!

StyleInspiration - Transition Dressing (Feels like Winter but its kinda Spring)

Ada Kokosar by Tommy Ton
The time has changed, we have sprung forward, but it still feels like winter. What do you do when you are sick of the winter drab and just need to inject some fresh spirit into day to day dressing? Change up the color palette and layer. Not to say we have not been layering this whole time...

After going through the countless (amazing) street style and runway snaps from Fashion month A/W 2015/16, the verdict is absolute. Midi skirts are here to stay and that is pretty cool. No longer are limited to opposites when it comes to length but we have the happy medium, where ankles and shoes can be shown off but knees and thighs remain conspicuously hidden. This is my favorite piece for transition dressing and the past week can attest to it!

BeautyTalk - The Inexpensive & Effective Anti-Aging Products I Swear by

Aging/skincare MUSE Miranda Kerr (image via Instagram)
There is nothing like a brutal winter to stop and take stock of your skin care regime. About a month ago I realized my EVOO routine was not holding up to dryness surrounding me and I needed something else.

Consciously drinking more water and moisturizing morning and evening simply did not bid away dryness and that meant my fine lines were glaringly obvious. Then my inbox was blessed with Marie Claire's newsletter touting their Guide to Face Oils!
