BeautyTalk - I tried Zombie Masks

Who recently had a birthday and is now officially closer to 40 than 30!? ME! It is bizarre how I definitely do not feel like a kid but I do not feel old either. That said I still want to look and feel my best as naturally as possible. Now I am not opposed to fillers or Botox, I just havent gotten around to trying them yet as it seems they involve maintenance and its a big financial commitment. So I keep my eyes out on skincare trends and try to find hacks. Cue in the Korean Hanacure mask which caught my eye as I was scrolling through Popsugar and a little ad on the bottom titled something like "This mask takes ten years off your face" (Say what!?) sent me to this Marie Claire article. And thus kicking of learning all about it and if there is an alternative. (WARNING UNFILTERED SCARY PICS AHEAD)

From what I can tell the Hanacure mask is tried and true. There are a few that say it did not do much for them but my search led me to more believers than haters. It apparently has been around for some time and while I really do want to try it, I just didnt want to spend $110 right now for four masks. I tried to rationalize how $110 isnt that bad considering the cost of facials, but, tbh I never get facials. Are you saving money you don't usually spend? I don't think so. Oddly enough, when searching for Hanacure on Amazon (my first stop for all shopping) there was a suggestion for Skin1004 Zombie Mask Pack (also Korean - and I think its pretty confirmed they are pros at skincare) which a couple of clicks led me to learn it was going for the same tightening effect as the Hanacure at a fraction of the cost. The basically 4 star rating and $20 dollar cost for 8 masks made it an easy gamble. So while this is no comparison to the Hanacure (which hopefully I also try one day), this is my take on the Zombie mask trend and you can decide to try it for yourself.

About the masks

Visibly lifts up your skin (Active ingredients such as Albumin help to instantly lift the skin while Copper Peptide and Rose of Jericho help to strengthen the skin), 3. Clears small breakouts and acne 4. Tightens enlarged pores, 5. Hydrates your skin deeply, 6. Improves skin texture by gently removing dead cells, 7. Balances the epidermis pH level, 8. Brightens your complexion with a "just-came-out-the-spa" glow

Back of the box

Main Ingredients:
Albumin : Known as a component from eggs, this is a protein made of amino acids, and is effective for attracting moisture to the skin - this is great for skin elasticity!
Centella Asiatica : Effective for soothing and calming the skin, this ingredient is especially perfect for those with acne prone, or sensitive skin.

Does NOT Include: Parabens, Mineral Oils, Artificial Coloring, Alcohol (see back of box for more)

Steps:
Right after applying,
tightening begins!

1. Open the Zombie Pack powder, being careful not to let powder fly away

2. Put activator liquid into powder and mix with enclosed brush
Super scary grandma look
10 minutes in

3. Spread evenly over entire face, from bottom to top

4. Leave on face for about 10~15 minutes (I could only hack a little over 10 minutes - it gets really tight fast!)
Post removal - super red face
(with veiny streaks)

5. Wash off with warm water - I took a towel and damped in warm - hot water and placed it on my face to soften the mask. Once i felt like it had softened it (seconds really) I used the same towel to wipe it off.

**To be used 3 times a week. In the case that the tightening effect feels too strong, spray
a facial mist while product is drying.

My take:

No before for me but this is me on
my way to work this AM (excuse my
very tired #unfiltered face)
Despite waking up way too early this morning, my skin did feel smoother, but not sure if tighter. Like I mentioned above I am over 35 and have pretty good skin despite a very basic inexpensive skin care regime. I also use very little makeup which shows in my pic this morning. As it is recommended to use 3 times per week, I am not sure I can give a final verdict today. However, I feel positive about its potential for tighter skin. I highly doubt I will do it three times per week, but will aim for twice a week for the rest of the month and measure results then (PS - my boyfriend asked I please not do it around him as it was not a scary sight lol).

To be continued...
